Hi,
The following is mainly a suggestion rather than an issue and I believe it worth exploring.
I would like users to be able to save the settings on “Layer Properties” window and then load them whenever needed. Something like adding two buttons, one to “Save” and one to “Open” the settings.
I know this information would be saved in xml format whenever we serialize the layers settings in a dspx file. But it would be nice to be able to save/load this form’s settings separately. My program produces various outputs for each layer and users often need to have different layer property settings for the same layer. This way they only set their desired settings once and then load it whenever they need to.
Let me give you an example:
In water distribution systems, pipes have various hydraulic properties, (i.e., flow, velocity, head loss, …) if user want to look at pipe flow he/she has to use specific setting on the layer properties that suites the flow. (i.e., specific cut points, line thickness, color for data classifications). After checking the flow user has to check head loss. To do this he/she has to enter new settings, for the same pipe layer that is appropriate for head loss variable. During the design phase, this setting and resetting the Layer Properties would happen tens of times. So, if the settings are saved in a separate file, user could load it quickly without the need to manually enter all of the settings. Also this setting could be loaded for different projects meaning that user save the settings for one layer in a specific project and could load it for similar layer in another project.
Please let me know if further explanation is required.

ER
