New Post: Making a simple map image

Hi,

I’m not sure if this in the correct library for me to be using. I have been using SharpMap up until recently, but nothing seems to have happened on that project in quite some time, so I'm looking for something to replace it with.

What I want to be able to do is:

1. Create a simple map
2. Set the extents (in map coordinate) and width/height in pixels, essentially creating a tile
3. Add several layers from SHP files and style them
4. Save the map to disk as a PNG/JPG
   

Is this something I'm able to do with DotSpatial? If so, can anyone provide a simple code example (in C#) showing how I'd achieve this?

If not, does anyone know of a good alternative to SharpMap that I should use instead?
