New Post: webmap plugin

Theorectically you could save whatever you want in there as long as you react to the App.SerializationManager.Serializing and App.SerializationManager.Deserializing events.

But basically DotSpatial uses it to save the layers from the legend with all the drawing information.

Layer data can be saved by calling FeatureSet.Save() so not sure what data remains that you'd want to save to the dspx.

New Post: Property Window

Steps to reproduce

DotSpatial version:
Load a Shape File
Click Identity in Menubar
Select Node/Line, it displays its properties.

Expected behaviour

Here only we should get option to edit its Node or other property and values, instead of going to Attribute Table Editor and edit.

Please assist.

Actual behaviour
Opens the property window

Explanation:
To edit one particular node's/line's values we need to right click on tree view and select attribute table editor to edit the shapefile values, instead if we get option to edit in Property display window it will be better.

New Post: Creation of polyline 3D (polylineZ)

Hi
I try to create a polylineZ shapefile with MapWinGis, in C# on VS2010.
Everything run but... why the shapefile contain everytime also the field M??
I've selected type POLYLINEZ for the shapefile and also for the shapes that I add, but the results are shapefileZM
The points are MapWinGis.Point with x, y and Z values set.
I could be try with dotspatial libraries but I think there are the same issue.

I don't want the M component because the file will be checked by a automatic process that don't accept M field.

Thank's so much.

Stefano

There is no 1.7 SDK. The one you tried to download was for 1.0.

Thanks for replying.

Do you know where I can download the SDK for DotSpatial 1.0?

The link above does not work and I couldn't find the SDK anywhere else.

Thanks again.

No idea whether the 1.0 file can be found somewhere.

But if you're not set on using the old version you could have a look at the DotSpatial 2.0 chm file.

That's 2.0. For now there is only a beta release on nuget and you can get the latest dlls from master from the links section from the main page.
Have a look at the switching guide to see what changed between the release here and the one on github.

New Post: Degree of a node

I have a line layer on top of a point layer and I want to find the number of edges(lines) adjacent to each node i.e. the degree of the node.

I searched the SDK but couldn't find anything related to this.

Is it possible to find the degree of a node? If yes, how to find it?

Thanks in advance

New Post: Apply Themes

Hi,

When we save the dotspatial file as dspx we have the option to open it as notepad file.
I was trying to apply properties, attributes and colors defined in this file as themes to my current shape file.

Please suggest an approach to do this as i am trying to add colors as one time theme setting.

Regards,
Amit

When do you anticipate a new build? I am waiting for the M-value correction for linear features.

If you're talking about issue 946, this will be fixed as soon as it gets fixed in NTS.

If you're not talking about that, not sure what fix you're waiting for. Every commit gets a build so check out the latest available build from master branch link from the main page.

I asked around January about a problem I had found. When creating a Polyline, M values were not showing up (If I remember correctly, they were showing up as NaN or null). After a few days, I think it was you and another developer that replied to that thread that the problem had been located and would be corrected in the next build. I had not heard anything since then. Could be my faulty thinking, but I figured a new 2.0 build would come out with that correction.

I just saw that issue 935 has been corrected. I believe that is the once in question.

Do i need to download the source and compile it myself to get the corrected dlls or is there a downloadable file with the updated dlls in it ?

Yes that was me that answered to your old post. I figured you have the link to issue 935 in that post and I told you to download the finished dlls after the post was closed so everything was there.

No you don't need to compile the code yourself.

As I wrote above, go to the github main page and click on the Latest available build from master branch link to download the dlls.

To tag onto this, will there be any "official" releases? I've been waiting for a 2.0 or something to signify stability.

There currently is an alpha release of 2.0. There are a few major points on the list we are thinking about including in 2.0 because 2.0 already contains a lot of breaking changes and those things would cause breaking changes, too. Unfortunately this is a question of having the time to make those missing changes before 2.0 gets released "officially".

All in all I'd say the current master branch is as stable as any release we could put out today would be. It's just the question whether you would be alright with having to adjust your code again to any further breaking changes after the "official release".
